LOOK GOOD AND FEEL YOUNGER
“How to live a productive, healthy and happy life.”
For those of you who are reaching or have passed the 55 year mark, I’m sure you can relate to the question – what now?
“How can I live the most productive, healthy and happy life possible?”
“Life is what you make it,” my mother used to say. True Health remains an inside job, with outside help.
Living a better life brings internal and external benefits that we can see and feel. We often seek these things – sometimes without knowing we were looking – sometimes we’re well aware of looking and can’t find them or when we do they aren’t what we expected.
More often than not we feel we should be doing more, but often without any idea of what “more” means. Most people, if they’re honest, find this life quite a challenge. Some simply lost.
A CERTIFICATE IN THE SCHOOL OF LIFE.
Most of us were trained in the school of life, completely at odds with the way in which this present one works. This ‘life place’ we reside in is changing much faster than we expected and just trying to hang on for the ride doesn’t seem enough anymore.
We know intuitively that ultimately it is what goes on inside that matters most, yet many of us question what that actually means – balancing the internal v. external in the long-term has never seemed so difficult. There has simply never been a time when there’s been more experts – yet intuitively we know (although we don’t really want to admit) that most know little more than we do (and often less).
THE COVID-19 WAKE UP CALL.
This COVID-19 experience has illustrated this well. First there was shock (many people dialled in there), then denial (many people played this card for a considerable amount of time), the Anger as businesses disappeared while others prospered.
Dealing with our grief as things went from bad to worse, we tried to bargain and balance our (and other’s) lives while depression became endemic, overdoses soared and we still looked for someone or something to help us out.
We all heard ridiculous claims, and tried to make sense of management and cures. We are only now beginning to accept that this time, it may have been a bit beyond us. Sure we’ll deal with it, but it was a wake-up call for many.
It didn’t have to be COVID-19 that shook us by the shoulders, but this time it was. It was (and continues to be) a reason to take an introspective review of our lives. Some will continue, wait for someone else to come up with a solution and return to where they left off (if its still there).
AVOIDING PARALYSIS BY ANALYSIS IN LIFE CHOICES
Clearly “To live a long and happy life” is a broad canvass. Our lives and our body’s function and systems are affected by many things, which in turn affect other systems, yet we need to start our journey somewhere – it’s important to avoid ‘paralysis by analysis.’
Action is everything – it may be action to do something, or it may be action not to do something – which is not the same as just not doing it!
EVIDENCE AND INSIGHT TOWARD A HEALTHY LIFE
Relationships, happiness, feeling connected and with a positive impact on others – true meaningful and usable wealth! Financial security and the freedom to plan the life you deserve, is another supportive goal in life. It you’re not happy to simply maintain the ‘status quo’ and want to improve physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, this may be a valuable resource for you.
SLOWING DOWN THE AGING PROCESS.
Without a basic understanding of what causes aging on a cellular level, how can we hope to slow the process of aging where possible?
REJUVENATION – THE REVERSAL OF AGING.
Just like Oscar Wilde’s story of Dorian Gray, we all think we’d like to grow older without physical evidence of it, indeed the cosmetics and personal care industries claim they can provide that – no problem, but what about the inside?
WHAT IS HEALTH ?
Most would now agree that health is not simply the absence of disease which was the basic premise believed throughout the history of mankind, driven mainly by the “healing” arts of physicians and their pre-occupation with the curing of disease (re-active vs. pro-active health).
PRO-ACTIVE HEALTH IS NOT DISEASE CONTROL.
Proactive health is not disease control, its health control but it’s insurance too. It’s like having a savings account – one day you may need to withdraw, so keep topping it up in-between times.
ARE YOU READY FOR HEATH SURPRISES?
For the times when a “withdrawal” becomes necessary, be ready with a healthy balance. Just as health is achieved through consistent and persistent appropriate choices, disease is often the result of consistent and persistent poor choices.
IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF YOUR LIFE
As we live longer – we need to stay fit, healthy and young at heart as well as in appearance. As Abraham Lincoln said – “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years. ”
SHARING LIFE’S EXPERIENCES
This is an opportunity for me to share what helped (and what didn’t). If I can help someone, just one person, along the way – it will have all been worthwhile. I have no innate knowledge beyond everyone else.
I have opinions, belief’s and experiences (some good, some not so good) but at least here, I can share them – so here goes.
